SCHOOL NEWS: Preston School team off to Buckingham Palace for enterprise final
DRAGONS’ Den businessman Peter Jones will be meeting with a team of budding entrepreneurs from Preston School in Yeovil as finalists in his nationwide enterprise competition.
Heavenly, a team of four students from Preston School, are one of the eight successful businesses invited to attend Buckingham Palace for a special awards ceremony on March 1, 2018, in the final of the contest called Tycoon.
The young tycoons from Preston School – Jessica Chiu, Hannah Bridges, Emily Rutter and Jolie Carlock - received £236 as a start-up loan from the Peter Jones Foundation for Enterprise to launch their business making and selling an impressive range of sweet treats in their school and local area.
Heavenly traded from October to December 2017 and generated a fantastic profit ratio of 367%. In addition, the team donated 25% of their profits to Feed the Children.
The Yeovil girls have beaten off competition from around 400 other teams from across the UK to reach the final – a fantastic achievement in itself.

And Peter Jones said: “I‘ve been blown away by the ambitious and inventive businesses that have been started as part of this year’s Tycoon competition.
“It will be a great honour to announce the winners at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in March, alongside The Duke of York, patron of the Peter Jones Foundation.
“I look forward to meeting all of the students and teams and hearing even more about their business ventures.”
The competition sits at the heart of Peter’s mission to put enterprise at the heart of the education system. Schools involved spanned the length and breadth of the country, from Elgin in Scotland to Helston in Cornwall.
