YEOVIL AREA NEWS: Arson attack on home

A WOMAN needed medical assistance after arsonists set fire to the front door of a home near Yeovil.

The alarm was raised at just before 7.45pm at New Road in Norton-sub-Hamdon and firefighters from Martock, Yeovil and Crewkerne were mobilised.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and found there had been a fire involving the front door, although it had been put out by a neighbour.

The property was smoke logged and two firefighters helped a female from inside the home to safety.

“The lady was suffering from smoke inhalation and was tended to by paramedics,” said a Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman.

“Fire crews then ventilated the property and handed the incident to the police who were investigating due to the fire being started deliberately.”

Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
