GLOVERS NEWS: Away win – at last – for Yeovil Town

A LAST-MINUTE header from Yeovil Town skipper James Bailey gave the Glovers an unexpected 3-2 success on Tuesday (September 26, 2017) night at Chesterfield in the Sky Bet League Two.

The Glovers romped into a 2-0 lead by half-time with goals from Olufela Olomola on three minutes and then Otis Khan on 25 minutes.

Chesterfield, to their credit, really battled hard and fought back to draw level in the second period with goals from Robbie Weir (51 minutes) and Kristian Dennis (72 minutes).

With Yeovil having slipped two-goal leads on a couple of occasions this season already, the 101 Yeovil fans in the crowd on Tuesday at Chesterfield were fearing the worst.

But cometh the hour, cometh the man, and step forward Yeovil Town captain James Bailey who headed home a last minute header to give the Glovers a crucial three points.

The victory and three points – Yeovil’s first on their travels since a 3-1 success at Morecambe back in March 2017 – saw the Glovers move up to 14th spot in the League Two table with 12 points from ten games.

Yeovil’s away fixtures in 2017 in terms of points gained have been pretty dire with just two wins from 17 matches.

Hopefully the exciting 3-2 win at Chesterfield will mean the turning of a corner for Yeovil Town.

The Glovers are back at Huish Park on Saturday (September 30, 2017) with the visit of Colchester United to Huish Park in a 3pm kick-off.
