YEOVIL NEWS: Getting on their bikes for St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice

FUNDRAISERS for the St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice were delighted that a fundraising motorbike run on Sunday (September 17, 2017) was a roaring success.

Around 100 bikers converged on the Recreation Ground at Chilthorne Domer to take part in the Sunflower Ride which took them on a 123-mile journey around Somerset, Devon and Dorset before heading back to where they started for refreshments.

The event was organised by the Westland Motorcycle Club and it was the eighth time the group had supported the hospice with the Sunflower Ride.

Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr Darren Shutler, who is supporting the hospice as one of his charities of the year alongside the School in a Bag initiative, which coincidentally is based at Chilthorne Domer, was on hand to wave the flag to send the bikers on their way.

Many of the motorbikes were showing their support of the hospice with the charity’s sunflower emblem while biker Paul Commons took it one stage further by decorating his crash helmet with a sunflower.

Organisers would like to thank everyone who supported the event – including sponsors Total Triumph of Taunton where the bikers stopped for refreshments around the halfway mark on the Sunflower Ride.
