GLOVERS NEWS: Defeat on the road once again for Yeovil Town

YEOVIL Town’s disappointing away form continued on Saturday (September 16, 2017) as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Grimsby in the Sky Bet League Two.

Headed goals from Danny Collins and Scott Vernon, both from set pieces, sent Yeovil on their way to a fourth straight defeat on their travels in the league this season.

The deadlock was broken on eight minutes when Collins headed home from the six-yard box and then Vernon netted the second in the 71st minute, also from close range.

Yeovil, to be fair, had played well at times during the afternoon and drew level following Collins’ opener through Francois Zoko on 21 minutes with an excellently taken goal.

But Yeovil found themselves under increasing pressure from their hosts and in the end that told when Vernon headed the winner.

Yeovil have now lost away from home this season at Luton Town, Forest Green Rovers, Crawley Town and Grimsby.

The result and others from around League Two saw Yeovil slip to 19th in the 24-team division.

Forthcoming games for the Glovers in League Two are Port Vale at Huish Park on Saturday, September 23, 2017, followed by a trip to Chesterfield three days later on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

The month concludes with the visit of Colchester United to Huish Park on Saturday, September 30, 2017.

They will be a crucial trio of matches with both Port Vale and Chesterfield currently in the bottom two in the table, while Colchester are just two places above Yeovil, but level on points.
