THERE were policemen and pirates, cavemen and people who like to be beside the seaside – all part of the fun of Montacute Carnival.

The sun blazed down for the annual Carnival procession on Saturday (June 17, 2017) and hundreds of people lined the route through the National Trust grounds of Montacute House and the historic village to watch the cavalcade.

Once the procession had returned to the grounds of Montacute House people were able to carry on the partying under the summer evening sun with a number of activities, stalls, refreshments galore and live music from the Starcross Shedmen band.

Results: Children’s Floats – 1 Montacute Pre-School; 2 All Saints Primary School, Montacute. Adult Floats – 1 Windmill Farm; 2= Ham Hill Rangers; 2= Pantomimers; 3= Village Voices; 3= Montacute Service Station. Other Awards – Odd Villagers and One Man & His Dog.
