YEOVIL NEWS: Melissa wins Tesco’s I Love Yeovil competition

A YOUNG artist’s picture depicting why she loves Yeovil is to be seen by thousands of customers at the Tesco Extra town centre store after it was chosen as the winner of a school competition.

Melissa Keable, six, from Pen Mill Infant and Nursery Academy, drew a picture of a helicopter taking off from Westland Helicopters headquarters.

The I Love Yeovil competition was open to primary schools throughout the area and Melissa won a £25 Tesco gift card for herself and a £500 donation for her school.YEOVIL NEWS: Melissa wins Tesco’s I Love Yeovil competition Photo 2

Her winning poster has been transferred onto thousands of limited edition hessian bags which are being given away for free at the Tesco Extra store in Queensway, Yeovil.

The competition was organised by Tesco as part of its commitment to encourage community involvement.

The hessian bag with Melissa’s winning design was presented to her by Tesco Extra store manager Stuart Edginton.

He said: “Melissa’s design is bright and her picture of a helicopter is a great representation of what people associate with the town. It looks great on the side of the hessian bags and we are sure customers will enjoy using them.”

Pen Mill Academy deputy headteacher, Tracy Manning, said: “The children enjoyed entering the competition and we are very proud of Melissa for winning. Everyone loves the bags and staff, parents, governors and pupils are looking forward to using them.”
