YEOVIL NEWS: Fantastic Funtasia Charity Ball raises a fabulous £15k

THE annual Funtasia Charity Ball in Yeovil on Saturday (May 6, 2017) was another amazing success as party-goers enjoyed a fabulous night of fun and fundraising.

The ball – organised by the Funtasia Entertainment husband and wife team Russell and Louise Lee – has raised more than £100,000 for charity in nine years with the support of local businesses, friends and family.

This year’s tenth ball – back at the new-look Westlands Yeovil entertainment venue – was another glittering affair with live music provided by a Michael Buble tribute act, plus local bands Scoot and Snakebyte.

There was a bumper auction, silent auction, raffle and tombola stall, as well as a five-table fun casino, photo booth, magic selfie mirror, a grab a grand tank, virtual reality activity, and chocolate fountain.

The main beneficiary of the charity ball over the past decade has been St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice with the event also supporting other good causes. People had the chance to vote on Saturday for a second charity to benefit from the night and it was the School in a Bag initiative which came out on top.

Funtasia fantastic Russell Lee said: “It was a fantastic night and I would just like to thank everyone once again for their unbelievable support.”

Russell told the Yeovil Press on Monday (May 8, 2017) that he was hoping the final amount raised at this year’s charity ball would be more than £15,000.
