YEOVIL NEWS: Man arrested in drugs raid

A MAN was arrested in Yeovil on Thursday (March 16, 2017) following a drugs raid at a home in the town.

Following information from the local community, officers and a dog unit attended the house on St Michael’s Avenue on Thursday morning with a drugs warrant.

Evidence of drug use was found at the house and a man who had breached his community protection notice was arrested at the scene.

As a result of police enquiries, Mahomad Yussuf, 19, from London, was charged with breaching his notice and taken out of force area.

He is now due at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on April 4, 2017.

Sgt Mark Doble said: “This is a great example of how vital information from the local community is.

“We are dedicated to listening to concerns from local people and acting on the information they supply.

“We hope this also acts as a strong deterrent to anyone involved in the supply of drugs in Somerset.”

Anyone wishing to report drug use in their area can contact police on 101. Alternatively, you can leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
