SOMERSET NEWS: St Margaret’s recognised in end of life care at Care Awards 2017

THE Somerset-based St Margaret’s Hospice has been commended by Care Focus at its annual Care Awards.

The hospice has been nominated in the ‘End of Life Care’ category and staff are looking forward to the awards evening in April.

The award is one of twelve being announced on the night and staff and volunteers are crossing their fingers for success.

St Margaret’s cares for over 3,200 people each year across Somerset. With two hospice sites - one in Yeovil and one in Taunton - as well as five community-based teams caring for patients in their own homes, St Margaret’s continually strives to reach everyone in the community that needs their care.

The number of people needing this care is growing and St. Margaret’s are dedicated to doing all they can to reach this increasing number of patients.

St Margaret’s chief executive officer, Ann Lee, said: “It’s always an honour to hear that our staff and volunteers are being recognised at award ceremonies.

“Every day our patients, families and carers witness the length to which our staff and volunteers will go to, to make sure each day counts for all of our patients. From simply being a friendly face to arranging an on-site wedding, it’s often been said that nothing is too much trouble.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to Care Focus for arranging the awards. We’re delighted to have made it this far in the process."
