SOMERSET NEWS: Woman’s upset after plant pot containing husband’s ashes is stolen

A WOMAN has been left heartbroken after thieves stole a plant pot from outside her home – unbeknown to them the soil contained the ashes of her late husband.

Ann King had put the ashes of her husband, John, who died in August 2013, in the soil so that every time she looked at the plant it reminded her of him.

Now an appeal has been made on social media for the plant – a Cordyline – to be returned to Ann’s home in the Runnymede area of Yeovil.

A family member said: “Ann is very upset and can’t believe somebody could take the plant – it’s not even an expensive plant so there was no need.”

The thief has been described as an “utter scumbag” and an appeal has been made for the plant to be returned.

“Please put it back,” said the family member. “There’s no need to say anything – just have a heart and stop breaking other peoples.”
