YEOVIL NEWS: Keep up-to-date with hospice marathon runner

A HEALTHCARE assistant at St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice is selling a charity calendar which will go towards her overall fundraising for the hospice which will include running next year’s London Marathon.

With the help of numerous staff from the hospice Karen Mitchell has been able to create a calendar to help with the marathon fundraising.

The calendars are priced £5 each and available from the reception at St Margaret’s in Yeovil and the hospice at Taunton.

“I have had the privilege of working for St Margaret’s Hospice as part of the nursing team for the past 13 years doing a job I love,” said Karen.

“Our hospice provides care and support to our patients and loved ones facing life-limiting illnesses as an in-patient or in their own home.

“Most of our funding comes from fundraising, legacies and donations.”

Karen added: “I recently reached a milestone birthday and felt I needed a challenge – this being the London Marathon – while raising much-needed funds for St Margaret’s.

“I am not a born runner, but I am determined to finish the marathon even if my supporters have gone to bed!”
