YEOVIL NEWS: New Westlands Yeovil entertainment venue is coming soon – very soon!

WORK on the reinvented and refurbished Westlands Yeovil leisure and entertainment venue is progressing well.

South Somerset District Council has said that the first elements of the project will see the new sport and fitness centre open on January 3, 2017, and the main business, conference and entertainment centre will be back in business on March 27, 2017.

The venue closed in late 2015, but was saved by the council when it signed a 30-year lease for the building and grounds in Westbourne Grove, Yeovil, from its owners.

The sport and fitness centre will provide a range of the very latest LifeFitness equipment, an extensive programme of classes and a fully refurbished sports hall and squash courts.

A council spokesman said: “It will be ideal for those who want to kick-start 2017 and join the gym in the New Year.”YEOVIL NEWS: New Westlands Yeovil entertainment venue is coming soon – very soon!

In response to popular demand the venue – now under the management of South Somerset District Council – is to keep the name Westlands.

The new logo has been inspired by the former AgustaWestland logo and tailored to compliment The Octagon Theatre branding. The Yeovil theatre is also owned and managed by the council.

Opening of the business, conference and entertainment centre will follow in late March 2017 and promises some exciting performances.

CBeebies star Justin Fletcher – aka Mr Tumble – will appear in April and German comedian, Henning When, star of QI, Live at the Apollo and Would I Lie to You, is confirmed for May 2017.

The first events are now on sale via www.westlandsyeovil.co.uk .
