WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Yeovil Town Ladies are promoted to top flight

CELEBRATIONS are underway after Yeovil Town Ladies successfully secured promotion to the FA Women’s Super League One.

The YTFC Ladies won 2-0 at London Bees on Sunday (October 30, 2016) to gain the points necessary to clinch promotion to the highest division in the women’s game.

After the first-half finished 0-0, the Yeovil Ladies had a perfect start to the second when ???? Green headed home on 56 minutes.

Then Yeovil made safe of the points and promotion when substitute Nadia Lawrence chipped the ball into the net past the keeper on 81 minutes.

Yeovil now top the FA WSL 2 table on a plus-six goal difference from Bristol City Women who are also promoted to the top flight.

Their final match of the season is on Sunday, November 6, 2016, when they play host to Sheffield FC Ladies in a 2pm kick-off at Huish Park. A victory for Yeovil would clinch them the title.

But Yeovil will now be looking forward to next season where they will be playing the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool Ladies.
