GLOVERS NEWS: Three points at the end of the rainbow for Yeovil Town

TOM Eaves brought some sunshine to Huish Park through the rain this afternoon (Saturday, October 15, 2016) as his late goal gave Yeovil Town a 1-0 success over visitors Newport County.

It was not the best game to have graced the Huish Park pitch over the years, but the result was vitally important and moved Yeovil up to 15th spot in the League Two table.

The only goal of the game came on 80 minutes when Eaves struck from close range following work from Ryan Hedges.

Eaves had come on as a 56th minute substitute for Tahvon Campbell, while Yeovil fans will also have been glad to see a welcome return to playing action for fellow striker Francois Zoko who was introduced to the fray on 76 minutes in place of Otis Khan.

It was a game of few chances.

The Newport side featured ex-Yeovil players Josh Sheehan, Ben Tozer and Jack Compton.

A crowd of 3,353 was at Huish Park for the match.
