SCHOOL NEWS: On the ball at Holyrood
THE rain held off for the first Community Sport event hosted by Holyrood Academy in Chard in the 2016-17 academic year.
Eight local primary schools of over 130 students took part in the Holyrood Under-11 football competition held on the new artificial pitch on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. There were separate competitions for Under-11 mixed, girls only and small schools.
Tatworth dominated the girl’s competition, winning all their games and scoring 26 goals and conceding none with Manor Court girls taking second spot.

It was double success for Tatworth as their boys team won the boys final after a very close match with Avishayes which was decided on a tense penalty shoot-out.
Combe St Nicholas secured the small schools title with a solid performance.
All these winning teams now progress to the Area finals in November.
Richard Evans, sport development manager for Holyrood, said: "It was fantastic to see so many local children playing excellent football and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship.
“Many of these pupils will be joining us at Holyrood next year and I am already looking forward to developing their talents.”
