SOMERSET NEWS: Long service awards for county firefighters

SOMERSET firefighters are among those due to receive long service and good conduct medals at an awards ceremony tonight (Thursday, September 15, 2016).

Several members of the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, who have served for more than 40 years, will be given special awards during tonight’s presentation at the service’s headquarters in Exeter.

For the first time this year, the Fire and Rescue Service will also be holding a Celebrating Our Success awards ceremony for staff who have demonstrated excellence in the workplace.

Award recipients from Somerset are Firefighter Lloyd Arthur, Burnham on Sea; Crew Manager Mark Culliford, Street; Firefighter Matt Fisher, Burnham on Sea;  Watch Manager Neil Giddings, Yeovil; Crew Commander Paul Kemble, Yeovil; Crew Manager Ian Legg, Martock; Firefighter Steve Passmore, Yeovil; Firefighter Kevin Phillips, Martock; Firefighter Kirk Sinclair, Bridgwater; and  Watch Manager John Trott, Yeovil.

A special DSFRS 40-year long service medal will be presented to Station Manager Bob Ferguson, of Bridgwater Group.
