YEOVIL NEWS: Four arrested and drugs, cash and offensive weapons seized

FOUR men have been arrested after police stopped the car they were driving in and found "significant sums" of Class A drugs.

They were arrested when police stopped a car that had been seen driving erratically while they were on patrol on Queensway in Yeovil at around 11pm last night (Tuesday, September 13, 2016).

A police statement said that PC Warren and PC Spalding searched the men - two from Yeovil, one from Slough and one from Birmingham - and the car at the scene which "resulted in the discovery and seizure of significant sums of Class A drugs, cash and offensive weapons."

The four men, aged 34, 25, 20 and 19 have been arrested for possession with the intent to supply. The 20-year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. All four remain in custody at this time.

Sgt Katie Maun said: “Being able to take these drugs and weapons off the street can make a huge difference. We continue to work hard to deal with the issues that drugs and the associated anti-social behaviour can create.”

She added: “I cannot emphasise enough our commitment to dealing with this issue, our understanding of the impact on the local community and the need for the public to work with us. You are our eyes and ears. If you see something that looks suspicious you can contact us by dialling 101 or if you think the crime is in progress, call 999.”

Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call and you could earn yourself a cash reward.
