SOMERSET NEWS: Motorcyclist crashes into river

A MOTORCYCLIST had to be rescued in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, August 30, 2016) after crashing down an embankment and into a river.

Firefighters from Shepton Mallet and Castle Cary – along with a special rescue team from Bridgwater – were mobilised at around 3.30am to the incident at Milton Bridge at Milton Clevedon, Shepton Mallet.

It was reported that a motorcyclist had left the road, gone down an embankment and into water, trapping the rider.

Crews got to work to rescue the motorcyclist from the water by putting him onto a spinal board.

The casualty was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police were also in attendance.
