SOMERSET NEWS: Police appeal over Minehead assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an early morning assault in Minehead which left a man needing hospital treatment.

The incident happened at around 0.35am on Monday, August 15, 2016, on Quay Street. The victim and the suspect were leaving The Ship Aground pub.

A 46-year-old man was assaulted, suffering facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

An 18-year-old male was arrested and has since been released on bail.

PC Jeff Trimmings, of Minehead, said: “We would like anyone who saw the assault to get in touch. The incident happened after a good natured and well attended public event, so we think it is very likely people will have been out of the street at that time.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting 5216180682. Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They will never ask for your name or trace your call.”
