SOMERSET NEWS: Happy 105th birthday to Deane Helpline’s oldest user

STAFF from Deane Helpline - a service provided by Taunton Deane Borough Council - were delighted to help Ivy Tooze, the oldest service-user, celebrate her 105th birthday.

Gillian Allgood, control centre manager, and Shaun Rolls one of the emergency response officers, delivered a bouquet of flowers and a handmade card.

Mrs Tooze has lived under the reigns of three Kings and one Queen, experienced two world wars and the advent of technology that could barely be imagined in the first decade of the last millennium.

Cllr Terry Beale, an executive councillor for housing services at Taunton Deane Council, said he was delighted the service had helped Mrs Tooze celebrate such a milestone birthday.

"It's remarkable to think she has witnessed so much during her long life - on behalf of the council I would like to congratulate her,” he said.

Deane Helpline's service allows her to continue to live independently in her own home.  If you know someone who could benefit from a community alarm in the Taunton Deane area please call Deane Helpline on 01823 257185.
