YEOVIL NEWS: Car fire outside Tesco Express store

CUSTOMERS at a Tesco Express store in Yeovil were escorted to safety this evening (Monday, July 4, 2016) as a precaution as a car parked outside broke into flames.

The alarm was raised at just before 7.30pm to the store on Cavalier Way in Yeovil and two fire engines from the town were mobilised.

On arrival the firefighters found a small fire within the engine compartment of the car and they quickly dealt with the situation.

A bystander who saw the fire breakout contacted the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

“Tesco staff escorted customers out of the store through a side door as a precaution in case the fire escalated,” said a witness.

It is understood that the vehicle belonged to customers at the Tesco Express store.
