YEOVIL NEWS: Mayor congratulates Motiv8 on fantastic Starlight Express

THE new Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr Darren Shutler, said he was blown away by the recent performance of Starlight Express at the Octagon Theatre by local group Motiv8 Productions.

Cllr Shutler has had a busy and varied few weeks since taking over the Mayor’s role earlier this month.

But it was the recent run of Starlight Express at the Octagon in Yeovil which really captured his imagination.

“It was fantastic,” he said. “It was an amazing show with lots of energy and great singing.

“Congratulations to all involved – a very talented group.”YEOVIL NEWS: Mayor congratulates Motiv8 on fantastic Starlight Express

Yeovil-based Motiv8 wowed the Octagon audiences from May 6-14, 2016, with a run of shows which gained standing ovations.

Motiv8 became the first group to be granted the license to perform Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rollerskating musical sensation.

But the Mayor added: "Not sure whether I'd be too comfortable on rollerskates myself it has to be said."

The Yeovil Mayor was joined by the Mayoress, Anna Shutler, and the chairman of South Somerset District Council, Cllr Mike Best, at the Octagon for the final performance of Motiv8’s Starlight Express.

“It was a brilliant brilliant night,” said the Mayor.

Cllr Shutler added: “I’ve really enjoyed my opening few weeks as the Mayor and been busy with plenty of events to attend and representing Yeovil at civic services around the region hosted by other Mayors."

The Mayor said he was now looking forward to his own civic service at St John’s Church in Yeovil on Sunday (June 5, 2016) which members of the general public are welcome to attend. The service starts at 3pm.
