LEISURE: The yellow brick road leads to the Octagon Theatre for the Castaways!

THE Yeovil-based Castaway Theatre Group has moved into the Octagon Theatre in readiness for its biggest ever show – The Wizard of Oz.

The talented group will take to the stage of Yeovil’s Octagon from Thursday, June 2, 2016, through to Saturday, June 4, 2016.

The cast of around 100 children and young people will entertain audiences with the much-loved story of how Dorothy finds friendship with The Lion, Tinman and The Scarecrow on the yellow brick road.

But, between now and opening night, the final preparations are being made to make sure that every T is crossed and every I is dotted.

There will be performances nightly at 7.30pm, plus a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets have been going very well with only a few remaining for the matinee show – so don’t delay in watching this fantastic group.

The show is under the direction of Castaways’ founder Lynn Lee Brown and assistance from Tammie Lloyd with Matthew Holmes as musical director and Kirsty Beaumont as choreographer, with an army of helpers and supporters ensuring that this will be the group’s finest ever production.

The Castaways have already been performing medleys from The Wizard of Oz over the past 12 months or so and last year took part in a show at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, London, in front of a 1,500-crowd.

The leading roles have been shared for alternate performances with Anastacia Hayward and Jessamy Bowditch taking the lead role of Dorothy.
