THE signs are up, the site is beginning to be transformed – it is now just two weeks to the star of the Home Farm Festival at Chilthorne Domer in aid of the School in a Bag initiative.

Tickets are selling fast for the festival which will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016, through to Sunday, June 12, 2016, and feature five stages, more than 70 bands, plus a stack of fun-filled activities for all the family to enjoy.

The School in a Bag project has come about from the Piers Simon Appeal which was formed soon after the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in which hundreds of thousands of people were killed including former Yeovil College student Piers Simon. The SIAB initiative sees schoolbags filled with everyday education items such as pens, pencils and paper – plus eating utensils – and are sent out to poor and orphaned children around the globe.

The Home Farm Festival – held at the charity’s headquarters in the village of Chilthorne Domer - is the charity’s biggest fundraiser of the year.HOME FARM FEST 2016: Countdown is on – get your tickets fast!

Last year’s festival smashed all previous years, raising a total of £46,000 – nearly £20,000 more than Home Farm Fest 9.

With that and the buzz this year’s festival has already received, the organisers from School in a Bag who run Home Farm Fest, have increased the festival and introduced a new stage bringing the total up to five. In addition more bars, food vendors and trade stands as well as the activities and attractions will all be on offer.

Luke Simon, founder and chief executive officer of School in a Bag and festival organiser, said: “This is set to be our biggest Home Farm Fest to date and that’s saying something after last year’s bumper festival!

“It seems that we’re really on the festival circuit this year as one of the ones to go to, especially in this area. We know we’re one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest one, to go to and that makes Home Farm Fest popular for families and first-time festival goers especially – it also helps that people know the money is going to our charity School in a Bag too as they can come and have a great weekend, whilst supporting a worthwhile cause.”

The Friday night continues with its ‘Posh Wears & Wellies’, encouraging as many people as possible to dress-up in their ‘fineries’ to start the weekend’s festivities and this year also has two big events happening.HOME FARM FEST 2016: Countdown is on – get your tickets fast!

The UEFA Euro 2016 England v Russia match on the Saturday night and the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebrations on the Sunday will be included as part of the Home Farm Fest weekend.

There will also be a silent disco for the first time this year and even a couple’s wedding party!

Amongst the new things will be the fantastic Children’s Area run by Playart, Bug Fest, Fun Zone, Aveling Adventure’s climbing wall and all the wonderful market stalls in the Market Area.

Zoë Fox, events and marketing manager for School in a Bag and festival organiser, said: “The festival site will look very different in some areas this year which those people who have been before will definitely notice!”

Tickets are priced £40 for the entire weekend or £12 for the Friday night, £20 for all-day Saturday, or £15 for the Sunday. It will be free for children aged up to five and half-price for children aged six to 17 years.

Camping facilities are available. It will cost £5 to pitch your tent and £10 for campervans, motorhomes and trailer tents.
