YEOVIL NEWS: Van involved in shocking hit and run incident

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run on Lysander Road in Yeovil.

The incident happened at around 1pm on Sunday, May 22, 2016. A member of the public tried to stop a van they believed was being driven by someone involved in a theft at a nearby store on Lysander Road.

As a result, the victim was hit by the white Citroen Berlingo van and then carried on the bonnet of the van for approximately 400 metres along Lysander Road, swerving as the driver tried to dislodge the victim.

The van turned onto Pine Tree Avenue and finally stopped on Maple Drive allowing the victim to get off the bonnet and escape.

PC Wilson said: “The incident happened in broad daylight in a busy part of town on a Sunday afternoon.

“Many people would have seen this and likely been distressed by the events as they unfolded.

“We would like any witnesses come forward regardless of how little or how much of the incident they saw.

“Replies can be made directly to me, PC 4328, at Yeovil Police Station on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.”
