THE Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr Darren Shutler, will be hosting Yeovil Town Council’s annual civic service next month at St John’s Church.

The service will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2016, and will be attended by more than 20 visiting Mayors and civic dignitaries.

Representatives of local organisations in the town have also been invited to attend on what will be afternoon of celebration for the Mayor and the town council.

Among the performers at the service will be Hannah Woolmington, the Hospice Singers, Sarah Lowery and the award-winning Yeovil Town Band.

The service, which will be led by Rev James Dudley Smith, of St John’s Church, will start at 3pm and members of the public are welcome to attend.

The Mayor, Cllr Shutler, who is enjoying his first few weeks in the role along with the Mayoress, his wife Anna, said: “I am delighted with the response that I have had to this year’s Civic Service.

“As well as celebrating the start of a new civic year, it gives me the opportunity to draw together so many organisations from within the community to whom we owe so much.”
