YEOVIL NEWS: Two people arrested in drugs raids

POLICE executed two simultaneous search warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act yesterday (Thursday, May 19 2016) in Yeovil.

The warrants were carried out on the Wyndham Estate and in the east area of the town.

One woman and a man were arrested at the first property, and quantity of a suspected illegal substance was seized. No arrests were made at the second property at the time but further drugs were seized.

These warrants form part of the latest activities undertaken by the Yeovil police team to counter and disrupt drug supply in the town.

PC Matt Wilson, from the Yeovil team, said: “This is an ongoing operation we are running and we will continue to target those supplying illegal drugs in the area.

“We did seize drugs and other items that will aid our ongoing investigation. This was joint effort between Investigations staff, Response and Neighbourhood officers. We are also working with landlords and housing associations to remove people involved in the supply of controlled drugs from our housing estates.

“We encourage members of the public to let us know of anyone they suspect to be housing drug dealers or allowing the supply of drugs from their premises. We also want to hear from anyone who is worried about friends, neighbours or relatives they feel might be vulnerable to drug dealers due to dependency or debt.YEOVIL NEWS: Two people arrested in drugs raids

“Sometimes people suffer the impact of anti-social behaviour associated with drug dealing activities - a steady flow of visitors to a particular property at all times of the day and night, or people waiting in cars outside exchanging small packets or cash, lots of visitors bringing items such as T.V's or bikes, bags of brand new clothing and leaving empty handed.

“These can be annoying, intimidating and sometimes tell-tale signs of drug crime. Please don’t suffer in silence, if you see it, report it.”

If you have information about any suspected criminal or suspicious activity in your area, please call police on 101 or report it online at www.avonandsomerset.police.uk . Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
