SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Horse rescued from water-filled ditch

FIREFIGHTERS have helped to rescue a horse which had got trapped in a water-filled ditch at Merriott.

The alarm was raised at just after 2pm this afternoon (Saturday, March 19, 2016) to the problem at a farm in Merriotsford, Merriott.

One fire engine from Crewkerne was mobilised along with a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater.

Officers found a horse laying in eight inches of water and down an embankment of about four-foot.

A vet was also called out to liaise with officers and by 3.30pm the horse had been removed from the water.
