SOMERSET NEWS: Arson attack at block of flats

EMERGENCY services were called out tonight (Saturday, March 19, 2016) after arsonists are believed to have deliberately started a fire at a block of flats in Taunton.

The alarm was raised at 9pm to the problem at the Outer Circle, Taunton, and two fire engines from the town were mobilised.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On arrival at the scene we found a small fire in the communal stairwell on the first floor.

“We got to work damping down and ventilating the building using buckets of water.”

The spokesman added: “The cause of the fire was believed to be deliberate. Police were requested to attend.”
