SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Fire at barn with 20 tonnes of hay
FIREFIGHTERS from across South Somerset were mobilised this afternoon (Saturday, February 13, 2016) following a barn fire.
Fire engines from Castle Cary, Wincanton, Somerton and the water carrier from Yeovil were sent out at just after 4.15pm to the deal with the incident.
Twenty tonnes of hay was inside the barn at Lattiford Farm at Holton, near Wincanton, and firefighters quickly got to work.
The farmer helped to remove burning hay from the barn to allow firefighters to damp down.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The case of the fire was accidental.”
