SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Support group makes fantastic donations to cancer charities

THE Chard-based Ribbon cancer support group has presented more than £2,000 to two charities in recent weeks.

Members presented a whopping £1,067 to Breast Cancer Now community engagement manager for the South West, Emma Chapman, who had travelled down from London to thank them.

Emma said: “I would like to thank everyone involved with Ribbon group for this amazing donation and thank all those who supported their events.”

Breast Cancer Now is an amalgamation of the Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer groups.

A further £961 was also presented to Cancer Research UK representatives – chairman Simon Colledge and treasurer Lawrence Cox of the Friends of Cancer Research group in Crewkerne and they would also like to thank Ribbon for their support.

The money was raised by the Ribbon cancer support, awareness and fundraising group - to give its full title - at various events during the year including quizzes and a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party held at Tatworth and co-ordinated by the area’s very own Mad Hatter, Jill White, who put a huge amount of work into its success.

Teresa Gay, of Ribbon, said: “Thank you to all who have supported us and helped us to raise this money. Please carry on supporting us – we could not do this without you.”

Another donation will be made to Macmillan.
