CHRISTMAS 2015: Home Farm carols are a success for School in a Bag team

THE School in a Bag charity team held a wonderful festive night at its Home Farm headquarters in Chilthorne Domer in the build-up to Christmas.

The Home Farm Carols event saw charity supporters and their families enjoy a night of carol singing, solo performance, music and group participation – including a rousing rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas.CHRISTMAS 2015: Home Farm carols are a success for School in a Bag team Photo 3

Seasonal refreshments such as mulled wine and mince pies were available.

While Father Christmas also popped in to say hello.

School in a Bag was formed as an offshoot of the Piers Simon Appeal – first set up not long after former Preston School and Yeovil College student Piers Simon was killed in the Asian tsunami of Boxing Day 2004 while holidaying in Thailand.

Since then the charity – led by Luke Simon, who survived the tsunami  – has helped to raise £1million to fund projects in areas around the globe devastated by natural disaster, while thousands of SchoolBags have also been distributed to children around the globe.

Each schoolbag contains useful school equipment such as books, pens and pencils, as well as eating utensils – things the children would not normally have.

The charity will be holding its annual Boxing Day Walk tomorrow (December 26, 2015) to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the untimely death of Piers Simon in the horrific Asian tsunami of 2004.
