CHRISTMAS 2015: Fairmead's festive treat for council staff and visitors

FAIRMEAD School choir from Yeovil proved that once again they were a Christmas number one hit when they entertained staff and visitors on at South Somerset District Council’s Brympton Way offices for the second year running.

The choir sang a variety of Christmas songs for 45 minutes in the main reception and were joined by staff from the district council who listened to them during their performance.

Alison Taylor, assistant headteacher at Fairmead School, said: “It’s a pleasure to bring back the children to the District Council offices and we’ve enjoyed being here again. It was great to have the audience participate in with the carols we sang and using the instruments too.

“Our choir ranges from six years old to nineteen, so a wide range from across the whole school and the children sang with enthusiasm and energy – we are really proud of them.”

Council leader, Cllr Ric Pallister, who arranged the visit by the school, added: “This was another outstanding performance by some very special young people who put their hearts and souls into entertaining both district council and county council staff along with visitors to the council who all entered into the Christmas spirit from the Police Chief Superintendent to roofing engineers.

“Audience participation was encouraged with a selection of musical instruments such as tambourines and bells and the whole event was a huge success.

“To see so many Fairmead youngsters giving a 120% effort alongside their team of dedicated staff was quite moving for us and made a wonderful start to the Christmas festivities.”
