YOUTH RUGBY: Holyrood are district champions for Year Eights

THE Holyrood Academy Year Eights have won the South Somerset District Cup champions after defeating Ansford Academy in the final by 15pts-5.

The game was played on Tuesday (November 17, 2015) at a very windy Chard and it turned out to be an entertaining match.

Ansford Academy had first use of the strong wind but outstanding defence from Holyrood’s Nathan Fowler, Alfred Busby and Charlie Clifford helped restrict them to a slender 5pts-nil lead going into half-time.

The second-half was a very one-sided affair with the powerful Holyrood team making good use of the windy conditions to score three unanswered tries.

The Holyrood scrum was outstanding all day, as were the half-back pairing of James Salaman and Harry Clifford.

The forward platform and outstanding passing skills of Clifford produced tries for Chas O'Shaunessy, Charlie Clifford and Jack Davies.

Man of the Match was Nathan Fowler for his outstanding running and defensive skills.
