CARNIVAL: Police urge people to think security

POLICE have reminded people to make sure they lock up their properties and leave a light on if they are heading out to watch tonight’s (Saturday, October 10, 2015) Carnival in Chard.

Thousands of people are expected to line the town centre route of the Carnival parade which is due to start from 7pm with a team of Harley Davidson motorcyclists setting off and being followed shortly afterwards at around 7.15pm with the rest of the colourful procession.

But not wishing to spoil the fun – Carnival could also present opportunities for burglars.

A police spokesman, speaking today on social networking Twitter, said: “Coming to Chard Carnival tonight? Remember to lock your doors and leave a light on.

“We had some burglaries last weekend at Ilminster.”

Ilminster Carnival took place last Saturday (October 3, 2015).
