Yeovil College’s coaching team includes UEFA B and Level 2 coaches and Wincanton Town first team manager Andrew Mitchell.

The package also offers the opportunity to join Yeovil College’s Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), which includes a strength and conditioning programme.

Top sportspersons and Yeovil College alumni to use the conditioning programme include Yeovil Town first team player Chris Weale, England Rugby World Cup winner Marlie Paker and bob skeleton hopeful Donna Creighton.

This year, talented sports men and women applying to Yeovil College can also apply for a YCBF sports scholarships, worth £500 over the academic year.

YTFC Academy manager Geoff Harrop said: “We have players ranging from under 9s to under 18s signed up to the academy for the new season and we have members of qualified staff ready to get going.

“We all want to see young players in our first team who are developed through the academy and here at Yeovil Town they will be given every opportunity to impress.

“The board and manager Paul Sturrock have demonstrated their ambition and drive to develop young players and now the real hard work begins.”SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Football academy programme for talented young players

Yeovil College’s curriculum area manager for Sport Matt Hann said: “We’re excited to be working with Yeovil Town again to nurture local sporting talent and provide great opportunities for skilled footballers of both sexes.

“Because of our shared belief in providing opportunities for young players, Yeovil College has a special relationship with YTFC and we have worked together on a number of occasions previously.

“For example, our Football Academy students were coached by Terry Skiverton and Darren Way on the team’s state-of-the-art 3G pitch throughout 2014-15.

This partnership has led to successes including a silver medal at the UK men’s colleges’ national football competition earlier this year and our women’s football team winning the Somerset Colleges Championship.

“We’re looking forward to working with Yeovil Town so that students can achieve even more success in the future.”
