YEOVIL NEWS: Multi-storey car park plans for hospital submitted to council

PLANS have been submitted to South Somerset District Council for the building of a new multi-storey car park for Yeovil District Hospital.

The proposals have been drawn up by the Yeovil Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and include a new link road and access, demolition of three properties, construction of a new residents’ car park and relocation of an oxygen tank enclosure.

It is all part of the hospital’s long-term vision for its development between now and 2028 which includes a whole raft of exciting projects with a key part being to make car parking far easier for all hospital-users.

Plans for the multi-storey car park have been submitted to the district council – with it being built on where the old medical staff accommodation was and has now been demolished to make way for a temporary car park.

The existing hospital car park will – it is understood – be re-developed in the future into an attractive-looking health and social care campus.

Car parking issues have been a major cause for concern and complaint from hospital patients and visitors with there simply not being enough spaces to meet with the growing demand for services.

More news on this later.
