SOMERSET NEWS: Serial criminal sent to prison - for two weeks

A TAUNTON man has received two weeks in prison for a 15th breach of an anti-social behaviour order - his latest prosecution in a 33-year history of offending across England.

Edward Bryson, 50, now has more than 156 convictions for 298 offences and has been arrested almost 300 times.

This latest imprisonment relates to four recent breaches of his order which bans him from most of the town between 2pm and 7am, and he must leave any shop when asked to do so.

The three-year order expires next August and relates to a history of alcohol abuse, violence, public order offences and theft.

Bryson is also serving his current sentence for a charge of common assault on a member of the public and a racially aggravated public order offence directed at a police officer.

He pleaded guilty to all charges at Taunton Magistrates Court on Monday (June 8, 2015) and was ordered to pay £80 compensation to each of his victims.

The assault happened at a coffee shop in Fore   Street about 6.30pm on Friday (June 5, 2015).

After the hearing, Taunton Neighbourhood Policing Manager, Insp Richard Caburn, said: “Edward Bryson is probably a familiar face for many in Taunton with a long history of committing crime and disorder, meaning my officers spend a disproportionate amount of time repeatedly arresting, interviewing and charging this one man who shows no sign of relenting.”
