NEW Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh enjoyed a celebratory party with jubilant constituency Conservative Association members at the Shrubbery Hotel in Ilminster.

Association chairman Paul Bradly said that the victory was down to a “magnificent team effort” of all supporters who had worked tirelessly in the campaign, delivering leaflets, canvassing and fundraising.

President of the association, Terry Bate, thanked everyone who had supported Conservative efforts over many years, and as a heartfelt thank you presentations were made to key volunteers.

Mr Fysh’s campaign manager, Louise Parry, was also congratulated on her sterling efforts.

At this first meeting in the constituency since being elected, Mr Fysh thanked everyone for their support in helping him to achieve such an extraordinary result.

He also told the assembled audience that in these first few months he intends to set the scene for the coming five years, along with facing the challenge of setting up his office team to handle the correspondence that had already been “flooding in.”

Mr Fysh said that he felt humbled by the responsibility put upon him in representing the constituency.

Awards were also given for branch fundraising efforts and the new association chairman, Richard Dale, was appointed.

In setting out his plans for the coming year he said that he would use his business skills and experience to ensure that the local Conservative Association continues to go from strength to strength, building on the existing solid foundation.
