LEISURE: Twisted Vinyl win a great night at the Octagon Theatre

A PACKED audience at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil last weekend was treated to an amazing night of entertainment – thanks to the finalists of this year’s Let Me Entertain You competition.

Eighteen acts – who had won through previous heats – thrilled the crowds with a variety of performances including singing, dancing, musical theatre and pianists in the final on Saturday (May 9, 2015).

The judging panel of Antonia Burt, Octagon manager Adam Burgan, BBC Somerset radio presenter Emma Britton had 75 per cent of the say on who should win the competition, with the remaining 25 per cent coming from the audience with each person having a vote.

The acts, in no particular order, were Erin Darling-Finan, Castaway Theatre Group, Twisted Vinyl, George Ingram, Rebecca Pritchard, Rhiact, Jasmine Boniface, Shooting Stars, AshAna, Shirleymarie, DF Beatz, Two of a Kind, Jessamy Bowditch, Broken Ground, Stage Dance, The Rivertones, Shermianne and Philly wowed the audience and left the judges with plenty to think about.

But it was the band Twisted Vinyl – who played their own version of the Beatles classic Twist and Shout – which won the night and with it a £1,000 prize.

A delighted Twisted Vinyl, speaking on their social networking Facebook page, said: “We won the final of Let Me Entertain You at the Octagon Theatre and it was amazing.

“Thank you to everyone that came to support us and to everyone that was in the audience – you were such a great crowd.

“It was such an amazing experience just to perform in the final – let alone win it!”

And the band added: “We all loved every second of it – thank you so much!”

A spokesman for the Octagon Theatre said: “Huge congratulations to all our incredible LMEY finalists for 2015.

“But a special congratulations to our fantastic winners – Twisted Vinyl.”
