LEISURE: Summer Schools at the Octagon Theatre

NOW that summer is finally on its way the Octagon Theatre team in Yeovil is gearing up for three spectacular new Summer School Projects.

The award-winning theatre and musical projects are aimed at young people who love drama, singing and dancing and they run from Monday, August 3, 2015, through to Friday, August 21, 2015.

The projects begin with The Octagon Theatre Showstoppers from August 3-7, 2015. Professional project leaders Sarah Langley, Lizzie Frances, Jessica Oldfield and Tom Turner will be working with children aged seven to 13 to create ‘Annie - The First Night Farce.’

She said: “I cannot wait to teach your children and lead them to a show-stopping performance at the end of the week.”

From August 10-14, 2015, the Castaway Theatre Group present its Summer School Project, ‘Matilda the Musical in 20 Minutes then Back to the Forties with Bugsy Malone’.

This project is aimed at ages eight to 16 and will be run by project leaders Lynn Lee Brown and Tammie Lloyd.

The final Summer School Project is The Octagon Theatre Company’s ‘Follies, Folklore & Fantasy’ which runs from August 17-21, 2015, and is aimed at ages seven to 11.LEISURE: Summer Schools at the Octagon Theatre

This project will be led by Sue Huggins, director of The Octagon Theatre Company, who said: “This will be the third Summer School I have delivered at The Octagon Theatre and I am super excited to be creating drama with this year’s participants.”

With so many exciting new projects to choose from your children are promised a fantastic week of fun, laughter and education this summer.

All of the projects run from 10am to 4pm daily; The Octagon Theatre Summer School Projects are £125 per participant and the Castaway Theatre Group Summer School Project is £100 per participant.

Summer Schools at the Octagon Theatre are a fantastic way to get young people engaging with their imagination and creativity in a fun, supportive environment over the summer. They are also a great place for children to make lifelong friends.
