SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Kingsbury is a hive of activity for its 22nd May Festival
THE crowds came out yesterday (Monday, May 4, 2015) for the 22nd annual Kingsbury May Festival.
Kingsbury Episcopi was packed with locals and visitors as the village became a hive of activity – apt considering the festival this year had the theme of “bees.”
Chairman of the Kingsbury May Festival Committee, Paul Carpenter, said: “The festival was originally designed to welcome the Spring, celebrate the beauty of the village and enable local organisations to raise funds for themselves and others.
“Our thanks go to all our sponsors, stall holders, entertainers, helpers, local residents and supporters. Special thanks again to the Male Family and the church for allowing us to use their land to hold the event.
“I would like to thank all my colleagues on the committee. They all work exceptionally hard and give their time voluntarily over eight months of the year to make the festival a success.”

The festival started on Saturday (May 2, 2015) with a fancy dress pram race through the village and music in the marquee with The Destroyers.
There was more live music on Monday on the Green Man Stage in the Cabbage Patch area including the Leylines band.
The Cabbage Patch field also had plenty of garden and craft stalls, a willows and wetlands exhibition and a medieval village.
Church Street was packed with stalls and sideshows, while there was also a children’s area including a Medieval Human Fruit Machine attraction.
St Martin’s Church was offering plenty of entertainment including the Out of the Ashes Quire and the Yeovil Ukulele Club, while people could also go up the church tower or enjoy the sounds of the Kingsbury Band in the churchyard.
