SOMERSET NEWS: Spring clean for Admiral Blake

ONE of Bridgwater's town centre landmark statues will be getting a spring clean – three years after it was last given a scrub-up.

Admiral Blake in Fore Street will be given a wash and brush up on Thursday, May 14.

A cleaning company will be using specialist cleaning techniques to make sure that the statue and granite plinth is returned to its former glory by removing grime, dirt and bird droppings.

The bronze statue will also receive two coats of protective wax. This will mean that the statue and plinth will be coned off from public use for a short length of time.

The cost of cleaning the statue and plinth will be £950. Admiral Blake statue was last cleaned in 2012.
