SOMERSET NEWS: Daffy the lamb gets some TLC at Secret World

A TINY lamb that had fallen from a high ledge at Cheddar Gorge is now being cared for at the Secret World Wildlife Rescue centre.

Volunteers were called out to attend a Soay lamb which had suffered the fall at Cheddar and was left bleating for her mother and unable to reach her.SOMERSET NEWS: Daffy the lamb gets some TLC at Secret World

The lamb was taken to Secret World – which is based near Burnham-on-Sea – for treatment and food.

The following day Secret World tried to reunite the mother and baby, but sadly the mum could not be found and Daffy – as the lamb has been named - is now being cared for by animal carer and surrogate mum, Josie Nott.

Josie said: “Daffy is being bottle fed every four hours and she is being treated for a wound which we believe occurred when she fell from the cliff.”

The centre is getting ready for the busy season which will bring many orphans in need of care  and veterinary help.  The aim of Secret World is to be able to release animals back into the wild when they are ready.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue will open its doors for the first time this year for the Easter Weekend and visitors may catch a glimpse of Daffy enjoying one of her many bottle feeds.
