SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Classic children's stories coming to the Octagon Theatre!

THE Octagon Theatre in Yeovil is delighted to be presenting two fantastic productions from Tall Stories - the creators of The Gruffalo stage show - this season.

While children around the area are today (Thursday, March 5, 2015) celebrating World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite book characters, two classic children’s stories will be brought to life live on stage later this year: The Snail and the Whale and Room on the Broom.

The productions are originally children’s books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and are firmly established as family favourites at bed time.SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Classic children's stories coming to the Octagon Theatre!

The Snail and the Whale is a story all about a tiny snail who hitches a lift on the back of a humpback whale and has to save the day when the whale gets beached. The show takes place on Saturday, April 11, 2015, and Sunday, April 12, 2015, at 1.30pm and 4pm on the Saturday and 11am and 1.30pm on the Sunday.

Room on the Broom follows from Friday, May 1, 2015, through to Sunday, May 3, 2015, – at 1.30pm on Friday (May 1) and 10.30am and 1.30pm on Saturday (May 2) and Sunday (May 3) and sees a witch and her cat lose some precious objects as they’re flying on a stormy night. A helpful dog, bird and frog find the objects but is there room on the broom for everyone?SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Classic children's stories coming to the Octagon Theatre!

The Octagon is also excited to be offering a British Sign Language (BSL) signed performance of Room on the Broom in order to make the production accessible to those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The BSL interpreted show will be the 1.30pm performance on Sunday, May 3, 2015.

What better way is there to celebrate children’s literature then to share in the magic of seeing your children witness their beloved characters’ stories live on stage?
