YEOVIL NEWS: Heating planned for Scout and Guide Hall

LEADERS of the St Michael’s Scout and Guide Group in Yeovil are looking for financial backing to install a new heating system at its headquarters.

The boiler and heating system at its hall desperately needs replacing and engineers have warned that it will not last another 12 months.YEOVIL NEWS: Heating planned for Scout and Guide Hall

South Somerset District Council’s neighbourhood development officer, Natalie Ross, said: “It would mean that the hall would be unusable and the 70-plus Scouts and Guides would no longer benefit from the activities that take place there.”

The Scouts and Guides are hoping that the district council’s Area South committee will agree on Wednesday (March 4, 2015) to fund 50 per cent of the overall £2,890 cost towards a new heating system.

“If this grant is approved, it will allow the group to replace the system during the spring and be prepared for the colder weather,” added Natalie.

Cllr David Recardo, whose ward represents St Michael’s Scout and Guide Hall, has supported the application and said it would be a “good use of grant funds that will benefit many.”
