YEOVIL NEWS: Baby changing facilities planned for community hall

THE group which runs the Abbey Manor Community Hall will be hoping it can spend more than just a penny later this week with plans to upgrade the toilet facilities at the hall in Yeovil.

The Abbey Manor Community Association has received comments from potential user groups that the toilet cubicles at the hall, which is next door to the Arrow pub at The Forum, are too small and make it difficult for users with children.

The group is now planning to make changes to the male and female toilets and add baby changing facilities.YEOVIL NEWS: Baby changing facilities planned for community hall

The district council’s community development officer, Natalie Ross, said: “The new toilets will also benefit users with mobility problems and those who need carers and assistance.

“The group also plan to improve the lighting and flooring in order to increase accessibility for users who have problems with their sight and mobility issues.”

The total project cost will be £14,500 and the group is hoping to receive support from South Somerset District Council’s Area South committee on Wednesday (March 4, 2015) to the tune of a £3,000 grant.

The group already has £3,000 for the project, while it is hoped to get further support from Brympton Parish Council and local businesses.
