SOMERSET NEWS: Kitchen fire at hotel

FOUR people received medical help today (Sunday, March 1, 2015) following a fire at a Somerset hotel.

The alarm was raised at just before 9.30am to the incident at the Babington House Hotel in Babington, Kilmersdon.

Firefighters from Frome, Shepton Mallet, Bath and Paulton all attended the incident and they discovered that alarms were activating within the hotel and the kitchen was heavily smoke-logged.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The cause of the fire was burning fat in a tray. The kitchen suffered slight fire and smoke damage.”

Fire crews requested an ambulance due to four people suffering from smoke inhalation and administered oxygen therapy to the casualties.
