YEOVIL NEWS: Bike security event is hailed a success

POLICE have said that the bicycle security-marking event held at the YeovilCountryPark earlier this month was a success.

People were able to go along to the park – better known as Ninesprings – and have their bikes marked with their postcode and house number.YEOVIL NEWS: Bike security event is hailed a success

The idea is that the property marking will deter thieves from not only taking people’s bikes in the first place, but if they do – the postcode and house number will make it easier for police to return the bicycles to their rightful owner.

A police spokesman said: “A number of bikes were marked during the event at Ninesprings with the owner’s postcode and house number.

“Even though the weather was poor the event was very successful and we are hoping to repeat it in the Spring.”

Jess Trigger, of Halfords, was also on hand to check bike safety and give advice about bicycle maintenance.
